Auspiciously situated on a sea-view lot in a quiet residential neighborhood that hovers over the picturesque coastal community of Almyrida, Villa Petalouda is a modern home within close proximity to the area’s star attractions. A casual walk to the excellent tavernas and well-stocked mini markets dotting the charismatic village of Plaka, and a few minutes’ drive to the beaches, shops, restaurants, and vibrancy of nearby Almyrida and Kalives, this good value villa is a popular option for couples or small families seeking comfort, convenience, and contemporary amenities within a relaxed Mediterranean milieu.

Bathed in soft and soothing grey and blue tones, this lovely villa and its terraces have panoramic views which stretch beyond the village rooftops to the resplendent waters of Souda Bay to the north, east, and west, and the majestic White Mountains in the south. With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a spacious kitchen/living/dining area which stretches the length of the villa, and into the outdoors via the large sliding glass doors in the conservatory, free unlimited WIFI, a Smart TV, aluminium tilt and turn windows, doors and shutters, modern décor, inviting shared swimming pool, and other requisite facilities, all render Villa Petalouda a most amenable holiday refuge… a hospitable home-away-from-home for visitors to our beautiful island.

The villa’s main terrace is fringed with flowerbeds that have been planted with an abundance of different flowers and bushes that provide not only intoxicating fragrances and a rainbow of colour, but also privacy. In addition to roses, jasmine, geraniums, bougainvillea, hibiscus, African daisies, and a grapevine, there is an abundance of lantana which is responsible for how the villa came to be named. “Petalouda” is Greek for “butterfly”, and the vibrant red, orange, and yellow lantana flowers seem to be irresistible to the variety of different butterflies that flock to them. An assortment of outside furniture has been provided including umbrellas, sunbeds, tables, chairs, and a barbeque, making Villa Petalouda’s terraces perfect for relaxing in the sun with a good book, delightful al-fresco dining whilst taking in the vista and fabulous sunsets, or even stargazing from the roof terrace at night.

Villa Location

Villa Petalouda is located near to the top of a sloping hillside which is adorned with similar properties set in rows along the terraces that follow the lie of the land. Many of these villas are private holiday homes which are unoccupied for much of the year, which means that our guests will often find themselves alone when using the shared pool. Positioned on a lower terrace near the bottom of the steep hill, the larger than average pool has a separate shallow section that is perfect for children or less confident swimmers to play and cool off in. The pool terrace itself has a shower, sunbeds and umbrellas, and views to the beautiful azure-coloured sea.

When not enjoying the welcome ambiance of your holiday home or lolling on a sandy beach… when not strolling through a lush olive grove or dipping in the warm crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea… when not leisurely exploring coastal niches in a kayak, learning to wind surf or simply imbibing the area’s scenic splendors from a comfortable perch at a beachfront dining spot – Villa Petalouda provides a perfect launch point for expeditions through the dramatic gorges, rural villages, remote beaches, and ancient churches for which this evocative and historic island is renowned.

***Please note that proximity to neighbors dictates a respectful awareness of noise level when enjoying the pool and terraces.

*** As of January 01, 2024, the Greek government have replaced the old “bed tax” with a new tax that is applied to all stays in short-term rental accommodation in Greece. The Climate Resilience Levy is a response to the devastating forest fires and floods that Greece has experienced in recent years, with the government hoping to generate extra funding that will go towards financing reconstruction, supporting victims, and increasing the country’s defences against future natural disasters.

The owners of all short-term rental accommodation are legally obliged to collect the Climate Resilience Levy as a separate tax for all overnight stays (per villa) as follows:
€10.00 per night on stays between March 01 and October 31, and €4.00 per night on stays between November 01 and February 28/29.

We will collect the Climate Levy with your final balance payment and it will be clearly itemised on your Booking Confirmation.

Whilst we understand the potential budget concerns of our guests, this tax/levy is beyond our control and we encourage our guests to see this as a way of contributing to the protection of the planet and the beautiful area where they are holidaying.
